What is the Motability Scheme?

The Motability Scheme offers affordable, worry free motoring through an all-inclusive leasing package to help disabled people, their families and carers regain their independence and become mobile!

With the Motability Scheme you simply exchange all or part of your mobility allowance to lease a brand-new car, and you'll enjoy the reassurance of a new car with none of the worries associated with buying and running an older one. Bristol Street Motors is proud to support the Motability Scheme in the UK, and can offer a wide choice of vehicles, award-winning service and vehicle adaptions if required.

Other fantastic benefits when you join the Motability Scheme

Motability Scheme Online Account

Manage your lease from the comfort of your home with a Motability Scheme Online Account and have greater control in keeping your information up to date, without having to visit a dealership.

One of the handiest features in the Online Account is the option to add your bank details. Receive any payments or refunds by bank transfer, instead of waiting around for cheques to arrive and then clear your bank account.

You can also start your next Motability vehicle application online if you are an existing customer of the Scheme without an appointee. Completing your personal details and allowance information before visiting a dealership helps your Motability advisor dedicate more time to helping you find the perfect car.

New Vehicle Payment

With the rising cost of living and energy expenses, you may qualify for a £750 New Vehicle Payment. This can greatly benefit your Motability car experience.

The £750 payment can be directly transferred to your local dealership to cover some or all of the Advance Payment of a new vehicle. The New Vehicle Payment provides increased flexibility when it comes to choosing your next Motability vehicle.

Eligible recipients include New-to-Scheme customers who have placed an order or received their new vehicle before the end of 2023. Additionally, existing Motability Scheme customers with an active agreement as of December 31st, 2021, are also eligible.

Good Condition Bonus

If you return your car in good condition at the end of your lease, you could be eligible for an up to £350 Good Condition Bonus.

When your lease ends and you return your Motability vehicle, it is then sold through a network of dealers or at an auction house. Returning your car in good condition helps Motability to achieve the best prices, keeping costs low for all customers.

The bonus amount depends on the length of your lease, and it's currently £250 for a three-year lease and £350 for a five-year lease. If you are eligible for the bonus, Motability will automatically send you the payment. The fastest way to receive the New Vehicle Payment and Good Condition Bonus is by bank transfer via the Motability Scheme Online Account.

Please note: the Good Condition Bonus is subject to assessment.

Our Customer Stories

Helen's Story

Helen Robinson, a Motability customer since 1979, calls the Motability car she received through Bristol Street Motors a "lifeline". With her adapted Motability car, Helen can now get to work and social events without worry. It's not just the car though, as Helen says the personal touch, advice, and hard work of the Bristol Street Motors team means that she'll "never leave Bristol Street Motors" to look for a new Motability car.

You can insure up to three named drivers on your Motability car. This means that if you are unable to drive, the car can be driven by a family member, friend, or carer. To be added as a named driver, they must meet criteria set out by Direct Line Motability (DLM), the insurance provider for Motability cars.

Can I buy my Motability car after three years?

Unfortunately, there is currently no option to buy your Motability car outright at the end of your lease. But you can lease another car and continue to enjoy the great benefits of the Motability Scheme.
